Launched in 1998, this caliber marked the beginning of a new era for the manufacture’s mechanical watchmaking. To mark 25 years of this iconic caliber, Grand Seiko presents a limited edition that pays tribute to a crucial chapter in its history and its technical progression. The SBGR325 symbolizes the evolution of the 9S family over its quarter-century of existence. With its understated form and high precision, it represents the very first watch equipped with the 9S and instantly recalls the beginnings of the automatic caliber it houses. The blue dial of this timepiece evokes the clear, clear sky of Mount Iwate and transports us to the heart of Iwate Prefecture, the birthplace of Grand Seiko mechanical watches. Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, the oscillating weight sports the brand’s signature blue color, achieved through an anodic oxidation process. The timepiece is powered by caliber 9S65 and offers a power reserve of 72 hours. Created by the skilled artisans at Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, this 9S 25th Anniversary Limited Edition measures 37.0 mm, the same diameter as the SBGR001 that introduced the 9S caliber family.
