Launching it in 1984, at a time when ultra-thin quartz timepieces were the order of the day, Breitling took a risky gamble with an impressively large mechanical watch. Based on the Frecce Tricolori chronograph, developed and launched in 1983 in collaboration with the famous Italian air patrol, the Chronomat celebrated Breitling’s centenary in style and brought the mechanical chronograph back to its rightful place. It is worth remembering that the brand has built its entire global reputation on these absolutely sublime watches. Available in a variety of materials, the Chronomat features a 42 mm case and the iconic four-rider bezel. This particular version features a stainless steel case with a platinum bezel that matches an ice blue dial.
